Stage IIIB 
TNM Any T, N3, M0 or T4, any N, M0 
The tumor cannot be removed because of technical reasons or because there would be no benefit to the patient.

Standard Treatment  These tumors are best managed with radiation therapy . Surgery usually has no benefit at this stage.

Five-Year Survival  Less than 5 percent 

Investigational 
• Trials are examining the effectiveness of chemotherapy
  and/or radiation therapy before surgery. These treatments
  have occasionally converted some patients to an operable
  stage, but it is too soon to know if using this aggressive
  approach will increase the rate of cure.
